The 28-year-old fast bowler Steven Finn has been drafted into the England squad for the Champions Trophy in place of the injured Chris Woakes as England look to build on their impressive show against Bangladesh in their opening game of the multi-team tournament. Woakes suffered a side strain during the match and was taken off the field after bowling just two overs.

Finn will be immediately considered for a place in the XI against New Zealand in Cardiff on Tuesday with England’s other fast bowling resources already under scrutiny; Jake Ball conceded over 80 in his previous outing against Bangladesh and there are still question marks over Ben Stokes’ fitness due to his ongoing knee problem.
Finn, who has taken 102 wickets at an average of 29.37 in 69 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for England, is the third-fastest English bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets and is included on the back of some superb show for the England Lions against South Africa A, where he bagged 5 wickets in the first two games.
