Pakistan’s emerging left-arm spinner Imad Wasim has secured number one rank in the ICC’s T20I rankings for bowlers, leapfrogging South Africa’s Imran Tahir to secure the spot.
Tahir’s combined figures of 1-75 in two 20-over matches that he played in his team’s 2-1 series defeat to the hosts England saw him slip to the third position in the recently updated rankings, losing the No. 1 rank that he had claimed in January this year.
The leg-spinner’s slide has helped Imad, whose T20Is bowling record boasts 23 wickets from 19 matches while conceding just 5.83 runs per over, surge to the top of the ranking. India’s Jasprit Bumrah is second on the list.
England take firm control of the number second spot on the team rankings following their recent 2-1 victory over the Proteas.
India’s skipper Virat Kohli maintains his No.1 position in the batsmen rankings, followed by Aaron Finch and Kane Williamson at number two and three respectively.
Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan continues to be the premier allrounder in the world, with Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi also maintain their second and third positions.
