South Africa’s leg-spin bowler Imran Tahir has topped the ICC rankings for bowlers following his team’s successful 5-0 series sweep of Sri Lanka in the recently concluded ODI series. Tahir surpassed New Zealand quick Trent Boult and West Indies spin bowler Sunil Narine to claim the top spot.
South Africa has also dethroned Australia, whom they had beat 5-0 at home last year, to become the No. 1 ODI side in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings following the 88-run victory against Sri Lanka in the final ODI match. It was South Africa’s eleventh win on the trot, enough to return them back to the number 1 position in two years.
“We have had some trials since the World Cup two years ago but have worked hard to rebuild and to gain some form and consistency in this format.
