The scheduled evening match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators has been called off due to persistent heavy showers, with both teams adding one point to their tally and hold on to their top of the table positions with 5 points each.
Earlier in the day, Peshawar had managed 117 for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted, rain-reduced quota of 16 overs. Tamim Iqbal scored a belligerent 46-ball 62, while Sohaib Maqsood managed 30 from 24 balls.
The match was called off without a single ball being bowled in the second half of the play. The final revised target for Quetta — after several rain interruptions — was 55 runs in 6 overs as per D/L Method, however, another burst of heavy rain just when the players were about to get on with the game forced umpires to finally call off the proceedings.
In the last 32 year history at Sharjah, this is only the second occasion in which a match has not produced a result courtesy of rain.
