India’s off-spinner Ravindra Jadeja has climbed one spot in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers following a six-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test in Bengaluru, which India managed to win by 75 runs on March 7 (Tuesday). He now shares the top spot with his fellow teammate, Ravi Ashwin, who too had bagged a six-wicket haul in the second innings to surpass Bishan Bedi as the fifth-highest wicket taker for India in Test with 269 scalps.

It is also the first instant of two spin bowlers jointly claiming the summit position. The last time two bowlers held the first rank jointly was back in April 2008, when Dale Steyn and Muttiah Muralitharan were at 897 points. Ashwin and Jadeja are at 892 points, while Australia’s pace bowler Josh Hazlewood is 3rd with 863.
