Pakistan have included left-arm seamer Rumman Raees as a replacement for Wahab Riaz in their Champions Trophy squad, the ICC Technical Committee has confirmed.
Wahab, who registered the most expensive figures in the Champions Trophy game during his side’s tournament opener against India on Sunday, twisted his ankle while bowling his 9th over of the day and was later sent for scans, which revealed a “deltoid ligament complex”, ruling him out of the Champions Trophy.
Raees is yet to make One-Day International (ODI) appearance for Pakistan. He came to prominence after he made his debut in the Twenty20 format against West Indies last year. The 25-year-old represented Islamabad United in the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League was also the third-leading wicket-taker in the tournament.
Pakistan will play South Africa on June 7 in a must-win clash at Edgbaston.
