Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, who was recently appointed captain of the Test side after he led his team to a maiden Champions Trophy trophy title, will play as an overseas player for Yorkshire in the upcoming edition of the NatWest T20 Blast.

It is speculated that he will feature in five T20 matches for the English county but his availability is dependent on him gaining a work permit.

The 30-year-old fills the spot that will become vacant in mid-August, when Australia’s Peter Handscomb is scheduled to join his team’s training camp ahead of Australia’s tour of Bangladesh.

Yorkshire, who are placed in the North Group of the competition, are currently second on the points table, with one win, one loss, and one tied encounter.
