Roston Chase (63) and Shane Dowrich (56) made a gritty effort to rescue West Indies’ sinking ship on day one of the first Test in Kingston, as the visitors recovered from a disastrous 71 for 5 to finish the day on 244 for 7. The pair combined for a consolidating 188-run stand for the sixth wicket after Mohammad Amir had claimed three scalps on either side of the lunch to break the neck of West Indies.
Jason Holder (30) and Devendra Bishoo (23) also combined for a quickfire 50-run stand to frustrate Pakistan in the end. Yasir Shah picked up 2 wickets, while the debutant Mohammad Abbas and Wahab Riaz picked up one wicket each.
